Photovoltaic Subsidy In Greece, the Ministry of Environment and Energy, together with the Energy Regulatory Authority (RAE), have implemented various subsidy programs to promote the use renewable energy sources. Including solar photovoltaic systems with lithium ion batteries. These programs aim to incentivize the adoption of grid-connected hybrid PV systems with battery storage to increase the share of renewable energy in the country's energy mix and reduce carbon emissions.

The specific details of the latest subsidies or incentives for grid-connected hybrid PV systems with lithium-ion batteries in Greece may vary. As subsidy programs are subject to change over time. It is recommended that you check the official websites of the Ministry of Environment and Energy and the Energy Regulatory Authority in Greece or consult a qualified professional to get up-to-date and accurate information on the latest news and subsidies for hybrid grid-connected photovoltaic systems with ion batteries of lithium in Greece.

How to apply, all the details

Households and farmers can with an application at pvstegi.gov.gr to benefit from the subsidy program for photovoltaics on the roof which will reach up to 16.000 euros. In more detail, beneficiaries of the Program are households and farmers who will be able to install their own small photovoltaic system, combined with a storage system (battery). The photovoltaic system subsidy starts at 45% and reaches 75% for households. The corresponding percentages for farmers are 40% – 60%, while the total subsidy of the photovoltaic system with battery can reach up to 16.000 euros for households and 10.000 euros for farmers.

Η pvstegi.gov.gr platform opened today, Tuesday, May 2. THE submission of applications and approval is fast and automated. You will need, among other things, the Taxisnet codes to log in. The application system will remain open until the available resources are exhausted. The final date is the end of June 2024.

Photovoltaics on the Roof: The conditions for application

The most basic condition of the photovoltaic subsidy program is that the interested party has already concluded a Connection Agreement with DEDDIE but that the photovoltaic station has not been connected.

It is also noted that each natural person can submit a single application, for a single residence - main or secondary - which has an active domestic electricity supply.

Farmers can submit an application for their residence and a single application concerning the supply of electricity for rural use.

Thereafter, the applicant must:

  • Must have VAT, as well as valid codes Taxisnet.
  • In the case of natural persons (households), except for Category A, to have submitted an income tax return (E2021) in the tax year 1. Either as an OBLIGATOR of an individual or joint declaration, or indirectly as a "SPOUSE" in case of a joint declaration. The related statement should have been cleared.
  • In the case of farmers, to have been registered in the Register of Farmers and Agricultural Holdings.

Subsidy Photovoltaics on the roof: Who is excluded from the application

  • Beneficiaries who had submitted an income tax return in the reference year (2021) as foreign residents are not eligible.
  • Beneficiaries who submitted a joint income tax return in the reference year (2021) are not eligible. Specifically as Obligor and Spouse/MSS. As long as the other member or dependent child of the declaration was during the above reference year (2021) resident abroad.

Households will be required to install a photovoltaic station with a battery. Farmers are given the option to choose to install a photovoltaic station with or without a battery.

The maximum installed power of the photovoltaic plant to be subsidized is set at 10,8kW. Accordingly, regarding the battery, the maximum subsidy is set at 10,8kWh.

How and where to apply for the rooftop solar subsidy

The prospective beneficiaries who wish to participate in the Program, submit a financing application through an appropriate electronic platform of DEDDIE SA.

In order to submit the application, the prior authentication of the applicant using taxisnet key numbers (taxis codes) is mandatory.

After authentication, the applicant creates the application and then submits the application by completing:

Necessary supporting documents
  • the 11-digit electricity supply number with which the photovoltaic station will be connected to a storage system if it exists (filled in automatically),
  • the power of the photovoltaic plant and of the storage system if it exists (completed automatically),
  • the capacity of the storage station if any. The maximum capacity that can be filled is 50kWh,
  • the category in which it falls and for which it wishes to receive a grant. Also if it falls to persons with disabilities (PWD) to a degree of at least 67%, or to a single-parent family or to a family with many children,
