Victron VE.Bus BMS V2

VE.Bus BMS V2 is the next generation of the VE.Bus battery management system (BMS) designed to interface and protect a single or multiple Victron Smart 12,8V & 25,6V lithium battery (LiFePO4 or LFP) in systems that have Victron inverters or inverter/chargers with VE.Bus communication. It monitors and protects batteries from over-voltage and under-voltage of any individual cell, as well as over-temperature or under-temperature conditions.

Based on the condition of the battery or batteries, the BMS:

  • Generates a pre-alarm signal to notify of an impending cell under low voltage conditions.
  • Disables inverting to VE.Bus inverters or inverters/chargers via VE.Bus and disconnects other loads via the 'Load Disconnect' terminal in case a cell is in a low voltage state.
  • Disables charging on VE.Bus inverters or inverters/chargers with VE.Bus and disables other chargers via the "Charge Disconnect" terminal in case of overvoltage, under overtemperature conditions.
  • Remote on/off.
  • Ability to disable VE.Direct and VE.Can solar chargers via GX device.
  • Allows the VE.Bus inverter/charger to be controlled by multiple devices such as Digital Multi Control, VE.Bus Smart dongle and/or a GX device.
  • Alternate source that allows a GX device to remain powered in the event of a system shutdown.

LED indicators

The BMS has the following LED indicators:

  • Status (Blue): Blinks briefly every 10 seconds to indicate normal operation.
  • Temperature or Cell > 4V (Red): Illuminates when the charge separation output is low due to cell overvoltage or overtemperature.
  • Cell > 2,8V (Blue): Illuminates when the load disconnect output is high and battery voltages are above 2,8V.

Remote terminals

Usage modes to turn the system on or off:

a) ON when the L and H terminal are interconnected (switch or relay contact)

b) ON when the L terminal is pulled to battery minus (V<3.5 V)

c) ON when the H terminal is high (2.9 V < VH < Vbat)

d) OFF in all other conditions
