Victron Energy Blue Smart IP22 Charger 24/16 (3) Battery Charger : Victron Blue Smart 24V – 16A IP22 automatic charger – maintainer (1), with 5 year warranty. The seven-step charging algorithm makes the most of your battery. The charger gives the battery the power it needs, maintains its health, ensures better performance… and longer life.

Recovering "dead" deep discharge batteries:

Unlike other brands, the charger Blue Smart IP22 it will attempt to recharge a deeply discharged battery by feeding it a low current. Normal charging will then resume as soon as there is sufficient voltage across the battery terminals.

Check your battery status remotely:

The Blue Smart IP22 is equipped with built-in Bluetooth, so that the status of the charger and battery can be checked on a smartphone, tablet or laptop. All charger settings can be configured with the VictronConnect application.

Bluetooth Smart:

The Blue Smart IP22 charger is the wireless solution for monitoring voltage and current, changing settings and updating the charger when new features become available.

High Performance:

With up to 94% efficiency, these chargers produce up to four times less heat than the industry standard. And once the battery is fully charged, power consumption is reduced to 0,5 watts, about five to ten times better than the industry standard.

6-stage adaptive charging algorithm: test – bulk – absorb – repair – float – store:

The Blue Smart Charger has a "customizable" microprocessor-controlled battery management. The adaptive function will automatically optimize the charging process in relation to how the battery is used.

Storage mode: less maintenance and aging when the battery is not in use:

The storage function is activated each time the battery has not been discharged for 24 hours. In storage mode, the buoyancy voltage is reduced to 2,2 V / cell (13,2 V for a 12 V battery) to minimize gas release and corrosion of the positive plates. Once a week the voltage rises again to the level of absorption to "balance" the battery. This feature prevents electrolyte stratification and sulfation, a major cause of premature battery failure.

Also charges Li-ion (LiFePO4) batteries:

LiFePO4 batteries are charged with a simple volume-absorption-float algorithm.

NIGHT and LOW setting:

When in NIGHT or LOW mode, the output current is reduced to maximum. 50% of rated output and the charger will be completely silent. The NIGHT mode automatically ends after 8 hours. LOW mode can be terminated manually.

Protected against overheating:

The output current will decrease as the temperature increases up to 50°C, but the Blue Smart Charger will not fail.

Eleven LEDs for status indication:

Charging algorithm: TEST / BULK / ABSORPTION / RECONDITION / FLOAT / STORAGE / READY.
MODE button for setting: NORMAL (14,4V) / HIGH (14,7V) / RECONDITION / LI-ION.

A few words about Victron Energy chargers

Where are Victron chargers made?

In Holland. Victron Energy, based in the Netherlands, has been manufacturing power conversion equipment since 1975 and has become known worldwide for producing reliable off-grid converters / chargers and a wide range of quality, affordable solar controllers.

What are the categories of battery chargers?

There are two different types of battery chargers on the market today. Timer controlled chargers and smart chargers (also called smart chargers), each for a different budget, (Timer Controlled is less expensive) but more importantly, using two different technologies.

The Victron battery charger is an intelligent battery charger for lead acid and deep cycle batteries. The unit is designed for home or business use and features a compact size that can be placed under a counter or inside equipment cabinets.

How does the Victron IP22 charger work?

Ο Victron charger IP22 is a simple, durable and reliable charger designed for deep discharge or PV batteries. It features a two-stage charging algorithm that ensures optimal battery performance and longevity. In the first stage, the charger applies constant current to the battery, which raises it to its maximum voltage. In the second stage, the charger maintains a constant voltage, which allows the battery to safely absorb as much energy as possible.

What is a deep discharge battery?

A deep discharge battery is a lead-acid battery designed to be discharged and recharged regularly. Deep cycle batteries are used in applications where a high depth of discharge (DOD) is required, such as in renewable energy systems.

Lead-acid batteries work by converting chemical energy into electrical energy. The lead-acid battery was invented in 1859 by the French physicist Gaston Planté and is the oldest type of rechargeable battery. Lead-acid batteries consist of lead dioxide (PbO2) and spongy lead (Pb) electrodes in a sulfuric acid (H2SO4) electrolyte solution.

When a lead-acid battery discharges, the sulfate ions in the electrolyte are converted to sulfate radicals, which then react with the lead electrodes to form lead sulfate (PbSO4). During charging, the reverse reaction occurs and lead sulfate is converted back into sulfate ions.

The capacity of a lead-acid battery is usually measured in ampere-hours (Ah), which is the amount of current that can be delivered over time. Depth of discharge (DOD) is the percentage of capacity that has been depleted during discharge. For example, if a 100 Ah battery is discharged at 50 A for two hours, the DOD would be 50%.

This is a compact, single box solution which contains a 3kva inverter and 2.3kwh lithium Ion battery. This contains a 50A transfer relay and connects inline between your supply grid and your PV inverter + protected loads.

The main advantage of this is its simple installation and simple operation. However while compact and easy to install… there are no limits in its functionality.

Its main operation is to charge its internal battery from surplus power from the PV system during the day. At night, the ECOMulti disconnects from the grid and runs from battery. If the power requirements are too high, or the battery runs low, then it reconnects to the grid.
