Victron Blue Smart IP65 Charger 6V/12V-1.1 + DC connector Battery Charger : The products for autonomous energy systems from the Dutch VICTRON ENERGY are characterized by the highest possible reliability in difficult applications. THE VICTRON ENERGY has the right products even for critical applications in the field of firefighting and ambulance vehicles where the reliability of the autonomous energy system is of critical importance, since correct operation can be a matter of life and death.
The reliability of VICTRON products has been successfully tested for decades in ambulance, fire, police, marine, motorhome and trailer applications and elsewhere. As a specialized company in autonomous energy systems, VICTRON ENERGY has designed products that are characterized by experts in the field as leading in all areas. The variety of specialized products for autonomous systems is very large, with a special feature being the ability to network between them for better programming and control, even remotely.
The Blue Smart IP65 charger is the new one professional battery charger with built-in Bluetooth. The Blue Smart IP65 charger can be used on devices in your workshop and in motor vehicles such as (classic) cars, motorbikes, boats and caravans.
The seven-step charging algorithm makes the most of your battery. The charger gives the battery the power it needs, maintains its health, ensures better performance… and longer life.
Recovery of "dead" deep discharge batteries
Unlike other brands, the Blue Smart IP65 charger will try to recharge a deeply discharged battery by supplying it with low current. Normally, charging will resume as soon as there is sufficient voltage at the battery terminals.
Connect the battery with ease
The charger comes with crocodile clips and M8 holes - making it easy to connect to the battery. If you want, you can leave it permanently connected.
Check the condition of your battery remotely
The Blue Smart IP65 is equipped with built-in Bluetooth, so that the status of the charger and battery can be checked on a smartphone, tablet or laptop. All charger settings can be configured with the VictronConnect application.
DC connector
Depending on the application, clamps, holes or a cigarette plug (all included) can be connected to the charger.
Charges 6V and 12V batteries
The charger will automatically adjust its charging algorithm to 6V or 12V batteries
Protected against overheating and reverse polarity connection
The output current will decrease as the temperature rises to 40 ° C, but the charger will not fail. The output relay protects against reverse polarity connection.
Eight LEDs for status and operation indication
When connected to the AC supply, the STAND-BY LED will light up. There will be no voltage at the output. After connecting with battery (battery voltage must exceed 2V in case of 6V battery and 7V in case of 12V battery), charging starts by pressing the MODE button. The battery charge status is indicated by 4 LEDs:
All LED charge levels are solid: battery fully charged. Flooded batteries, AGM or GEL. Ambient temperature below 10°C or batteries that require a higher charging voltage (for example, OPTIMA spiral cell batteries).
In case of reverse polarity connection, the orange LED ! it will be activated after pressing the MODE button.
If the red STANDBY LED remains on, even after pressing the MODE button, the connection to the battery is interrupted.
The charger always starts in STANDBY state when connected to AC supply.
The Blue Smart IP65 range of battery chargers are Bluetooth enabled to provide full control in the palm of your hand. By simply downloading the VictronConnect app, you can check the status of your charger and connected battery via smartphone or tablet and configure all charger settings.
The Blue Smart IP65 series provides a professional charging solution for most with advantages such as:
Water, dust and chemical resistance.
Recovery of fully discharged "dead" batteries.
Automatic power supply function.
Seven-step intelligent charging algorithm
Setup and configuration, voltage display and runs via Bluetooth Smart
Features to improve battery life.
LiIon* (LiFePO4) battery operation.
Extremely high efficiency – up to 95%.
Low power mode for smaller batteries.
Extreme cold performance: up to -30°C.
The IP65 rating is the level of ingress protection. The first number 6 (which is the highest level) relates to this level of protection against dust and solids intrusion. Level 6 is completely dustproof, provides full protection against dust and other particles, including vacuum sealing, tested against continuous airflow for up to 8 hours. The second number 5 is related to moisture protection and has a score of 0 to 9. It provides protection from projected water
with a 6,3 mm nozzle into the housing from any direction without harmful consequences.
A few words about Victron Energy chargers
The Victron battery charger is an intelligent battery charger for lead acid and deep cycle batteries. The unit is designed for home or business use and features a compact size that can be placed under a counter or inside equipment cabinets.
How does the Victron IP22 charger work?
The Victron IP22 charger is a simple, rugged and reliable charger designed for deep discharge or PV batteries. It features a two-stage charging algorithm that ensures optimal battery performance and longevity. In the first stage, the charger applies constant current to the battery, which raises it to its maximum voltage. In the second stage, the charger maintains a constant voltage, which allows the battery to safely absorb as much energy as possible.
A deep discharge battery is a lead-acid battery designed to be discharged and recharged regularly. Deep cycle batteries are used in applications where a high depth of discharge (DOD) is required, such as in renewable energy systems.
Lead-acid batteries work by converting chemical energy into electrical energy. The lead-acid battery was invented in 1859 by the French physicist Gaston Planté and is the oldest type of rechargeable battery. Lead-acid batteries consist of lead dioxide (PbO2) and spongy lead (Pb) electrodes in a sulfuric acid (H2SO4) electrolyte solution.
When a lead-acid battery discharges, the sulfate ions in the electrolyte are converted to sulfate radicals, which then react with the lead electrodes to form lead sulfate (PbSO4). During charging, the reverse reaction occurs and lead sulfate is converted back into sulfate ions.
The capacity of a lead-acid battery is usually measured in ampere-hours (Ah), which is the amount of current that can be delivered over time. Depth of discharge (DOD) is the percentage of capacity that has been depleted during discharge. For example, if a 100 Ah battery is discharged at 50 A for two hours, the DOD would be 50%.
Deep discharge batteries are designed to withstand repeated deep discharges, making them ideal for renewable energy systems where power generation may not always be
