The development of Renewable Energy Sources in the European Union had a strong return in 2020, despite the health crisis, and the social and economic consequences of the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic, revealed the recent European Solar Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Power Market update Outlook: 2020 ÷ 2030.

EU Member States installed 18,2GW of solar power in 2020, an 11% improvement over the 16,2GW developed last year, according to a recently published EU Market Outlook report for SolarPower 2020-2024 by SolarPower Europe. With minimal solar installation activity in Europe in recent years, the SolarPower Europe forecast model shows the new additions of gigawatt (PV) solar photovoltaic potential for Bulgaria and Romania by 2024.

SolarPower Europe's growth assumptions are well above the targets set by the EU Member in their National Energy and Climate Plans (NECP). But with the rise of solar energy in Europe alone, the foundations have been laid for further rapid growth in the coming years.
