The Converse Ruber Shoe Company is an American footwear company founded by Marquis Mills Converse in 1908 in Massachusetts. In the beginning they were made only in black and in 1947 they started to be made in white as well. Until the day of his death in 1969 he was the brand's ambassador worldwide.

As the NBA became more professional, the demands of the teams increased. Converse had to put aside its classic black and white sneakers to offer colorful and showy designs. Launched new series such as Jack Purcell and Heritage. Their aggressive and deliberate advertising gained market dominance. It became the favorite shoe of movie and music stars. Some of them are James Dean, Elvis Presley, Ramones, Kurt Cobain, etc. which dominated the market in the 70s and 80s.
The emergence of brands such as Nike, Reebok and Adidas in the US represented a competition for which the company was unprepared. They were startups that hired stars like Michael Jordan to launch their products. Converse lost its status as the NBA's official sneaker, and a market loss led to its bankruptcy in 2001.
