Victron SmartSolar MPPT 150/70-Tr VE.Can – MPPT 70A Photovoltaic Charge Controller: Its Smartsolar mppt 150/70-mc4 vitron Energy (mpn scc115070210), is part of the latest generation of smart solar controllers from the leading Dutch manufacturer. The controller manages the massive 70a of solar power and can work flexibly with 12/24/36/48v batteries. Ultra-fast power monitoring and automatic detection of power points in case of partial shading are just 2 of the many features of this new class of devices. The Smartsolar 150/70-mc4 is also available as a version with screw terminals on the solar side of the charge controller instead of mc4 plugs. In addition, this model is capable of parallel operation with other controllers of the same type.
Compared to the BlueSolar series, the Bluetooth module of the family Smartsolar is already built into the controller, making the smart dongle unnecessary for this device. Also new is the optionally available lcd display, which can simply be attached to the SmartSolar 150/70-mc4 as required. The screen then provides all the important information about the controller.
Modern smartphones, tablets, Macbooks and other Apple and Android devices can be connected thanks to the permanently integrated Bluetooth module and the free victron Connect app. The app can then be used to configure many important functions of the SmartSolar 150/70-mc4. Of course, it also provides all the important parameters like the current solar performance in real time.
In the case of partial shading, there may be two or more maximum power points (mppts) on the current-voltage curve. Conventional mppts tend to install to a local mpp. However, this may not be the optimal mpp. SmartSolar 150/70-mc4's innovative algorithm will always maximize energy efficiency by adjusting the optimal mpp.
Especially in cloudy conditions, when light intensity is constantly changing, an ultra-fast mppt controller improves energy efficiency by up to 30% compared to PwM charge controllers and up to 10% compared to slower mppt controllers.
vE.Direct in text mode transmits all important parameters to other devices connected to the charge controller every second, offering the ability to communicate with additional gx Color Control panel devices. The vE.Direct connection is intended for products where full Canbus integration (vE-Direct) would be too expensive. MPPT stands for maximum power detection. It is an algorithm used to extract the maximum power from the solar panels (photovoltaic panels) and deliver it to the batteries. The MPPT algorithm continuously adjusts the operating voltage of the solar panel to ensure that maximum power is extracted from the panel and supplied to the batteries.
