The thin film photovoltaic panels (thin film) of SOLAR FRONTIER, are made in Japan and are highly efficient. These panels bring together the advantages of CIS technology (Copper - Indium - Selenium, ie copper - indium - selenium) and do not lag behind in any field compared to crystal panels. CIS technology is very different from other thin film technologies, such as amorphous, micromorph and tandem technologies, and this allows us to have yields similar to crystal panels, up to 13,8%. Also what completely separates CIS technology from other thin film technologies and crystal technologies is environmental friendliness.

The production part, of course, is of maximum interest to the end customer. As already mentioned, the efficiency of the photovoltaic panel of SOLAR FRONTIER goes up to 13,8% in the model SF170-S. The corresponding Polycrystalline silicon reaches yields of 14.80% -16.50%

Key advantage of SOLAR FRONTIER is their performance in low sunshine conditions, very morning or afternoon hours and cloudy days, because these panels make the most of diffused light, since they have a wide spectral sensitivity optimized in the range of sunlight. This is something that the crystal panels can not do and that is where the use of SOLAR FRONTIER is based even in a north orientation, when there is no suitable space in the south, without significant losses in production.

Another advantage has to do with performance when a panel is shaded. In this case in the crystal panels it is possible to lose the production of the whole panel. In CIS panels, however, this is not the case, as shown in Figure 1.

The reaction of the panel at high temperatures is quite different, always compared to the crystal panels. The decrease in yield per degree Kelvin with increasing temperature is much smaller.

Another advantage of CIS panels is the phenomenon of light soaking, which is the only technology in which it appears. With the exposure of the panel to solar radiation, its nominal power increases by about 10% for a period of more than five years. Thus, our production increases by 10%. The power of this phenomenon is certified by the world-renowned laboratory of Fraunhofen

Secondly many times for the end customer, but always important for everyone, is the environmental friendliness that SOLAR FRONTIER has towards its competition in terms of the production of the panel itself. SOLAR FRONTIER is made without hazardous materials (cadmium, lead) that require special recycling at the end of its life. It is manufactured with the strictest safety regulations RoHS (Restrictions of Hazardous Substances), with fully recyclable materials in their packaging, while it has a very low requirement for raw materials, much less than the crystal panels. All this leads to one of the lowest energy payback times on the market, less than a year.

SOLAR FRONTIER panels are characterized beyond their energy advantages and their environmental friendliness, by high aesthetics. They also have high resistance to corrosion by sea salts and ammonia, when found in the respective environments.
