Photovoltaics in Greece!

Photovoltaics in Greece! The development of solar energy in Greece started in 2006 and the installation of photovoltaic systems was launched in 2009 due to the attractive supply tariffs that were introduced and the corresponding regulations for home applications of solar photovoltaic roof. From 2019, about 90% of it. In 2011, 2012 and 2013 a capacity of 2,5 GWp was installed. However, the financing of FIT created an unacceptable deficit of over 500 million euros in the Greek RES fund "Electricity Market Manager". To reduce this deficit, new regulations were introduced in August 2012, including a retroactive reduction in feed-in tariffs, [1] with further reductions over time. [2] These measures allowed the deficit to be eliminated by 2017. [3]

Photovoltaics in Greece! Auctions have replaced FIT and after remaining stagnant since 2013, from 2019 Greece re-installs hundreds of MWp per year. [3]

By April 2015, the total installed capacity of photovoltaics in Greece had reached 2.442,6 MW p of which 350,5 MW p were installed on roofs and the rest were terrestrial. [4] Greece ranks 5th in the world in terms of per capita installed PV power and PV covers 7% of the country's electricity demand in 2019 [3]
