A list of basic equipment to improve your photography technique or make your life easier.
You do not have to have everything, but you need to know what accessories are available. How useful they are and whether they allow you to improve your photo, video or try different techniques.

Memory cards (SD / micro SD)

It is convenient to carry at least a few extra memory cards. Especially if we are going to travel to places where it will not be possible to buy an SD card in case of emergency.

Basic criteria for choosing an SD card

Category 10 (U1 / V10) or higher for photography
Class U3 (V30) or higher for video
Medium capacity multiple SD cards (eg 32 GB multiple cards) are preferable to a large capacity card to minimize the risk of hardware loss in the event of a card failure.

Camera batteries

It is a good idea to carry at least some extra batteries for the camera. It depends on the type of camera you use (for example, video consumes a lot more battery). It is generally not a good idea to go outside without at least one spare battery.

In addition, having multiple batteries will allow you to take pictures while letting one of them charge.

Most camera models include the charger in the package. Some models (eg some Sony) do not include a charger, but allow the battery to be charged using a USB cable.

A very good option is to buy external USB chargers. They are usually relatively inexpensive, take up little space and do not add weight to the equipment. They also offer great flexibility as they can be connected to any device via USB. Laptop, USB car charger, powerbank. It is a very good solution, especially for excursions and outings in nature.

USB charger for camera batteries

Note that these chargers are usually slower to charge (it also depends on the device that provides the charge). But they are usually cheap and very convenient to carry anywhere.

To find the right USB charger for your camera batteries, you can search by camera name or better yet, search for that particular battery model.

Backpacks, bags and camera cases

There are many models of backpacks, bags and cases for photographic equipment. Each designed for a specific type of use or situation.

There are basically two major variations. Backpacks and bags designed for carrying equipment. Dominated by the volume of equipment that can be stored. And backpacks / bags designed to be functional in photography. Dominated by ease of access to equipment, comfort, etc.
In general, it is very difficult to find a single backpack (bag, shoulder strap, cover, etc.) that perfectly fulfills both functions.

Photographic tripods

The tripod is a practically necessary accessory for both photography and video.

For photography it is necessary to take photos at slow shutter speeds and generally take pictures with the highest possible sharpness. As any movement of the camera while shooting results in an unstable image.

For the video it is more crucial, as the stability of the recording during the recording is one of the most important criteria in the video. A video with vibrations or abrupt movements of the camera causes an unpleasant sensation to the viewer.

On a tripod, the goal is above all to be very stable, to prevent the camera from moving (for example due to the effect of the wind if we are outside) and to absorb well the small vibrations of the environment and the camera itself.

On the other hand, it is important that the tripod facilitates our work, for example when framing. We would also like it to be very light and easy to carry.

Some of these features of the ideal tripod are incompatible with each other. So we have to find a balance between: stability, usability, portability and price.

Belts and belts

Although it may seem like a side issue, the type and quality of the strap can make the camera experience enjoyable or a real nightmare. Especially when it comes to relatively heavy equipment (camera + lens) and in large sessions.

The main problem with the "standard" straps that come with the cameras is that they are usually very narrow. This puts pressure on the neck area that accumulates and can become very annoying.

Using wider straps, the weight is distributed over a larger area. If they have some kind of soft investment it is even better.
