• The SolidSwitch 104 will switch DC loads up to 70V/4A and can be controlled by a low power digital signal.
• The DC load can be resistive, capacitive or inductive (such as the coil of a high power contactor).
• SolidSwitch is not reverse polarity protected and not short circuit protected.

What makes SolidSwitch 104 unique?

The feature that makes it such a useful switch is its low power consumption. The SolidSwitch will draw 0,04Ah, while a small relay can easily take 10Ah or usually even 22Ah.

This 250 reduction is critical when used in a lithium system to connect and control the alternator regulator: the control circuit will always draw its standby power. As in using it to increase the number of chargers that can be connected to a BMS ATC contact. By using a SolidSwitch instead of an ordinary relay, the parasitic load is reduced.

Note that even when the batteries are fully charged, the ATC output of the BMS will still be on. And therefore control circuits such as a relay or in this case the SolidSwitch will activate and draw power even when the charger or alternator is not charging.

For this example, this means that when using a relay, the small relay draws 10 Ah per month from the battery, even when the engine is not running. Whereas the SolidSwitch only draws 0,04Ah, which is probably well below the batteries self-discharge and therefore negligible.
